Like for the entropion, the ectropion is an eye default.
It is characterized by a eyelid turns outwards.
The origins of an ectropion can have severals possible causes : congenital or acquired.
Turning outwards and so losing the contact on the eyeball, the eyelid is widely separated from the cornea.
The result is to allow a widely exposure of the conjonctive to the action of the ambiant air. It causes a drying of the eyelid face and the appearance of redness.
The only treatment is an operation which consists to reapply the eyelid against the cornea by a shortening of the eyelid lenght.
